I just did the crossgrade from 8 MP. I was plugging along just fine, I had to weigh the advantages of PT9 against what I was using, and missing. For the gains, $350 is a bit steep, but bearable. Sheesh, a 4 gig download YUCH!
I use an M-Audio FTU8r at home, and an 003 black lion mod / C|24 with PT 8 LE at another studio that will soon be upgraded to PT9.

i hope eventually upgrades for MP go lower
I am in exactly the same position as the person in the post, ie Profire 610, upgrade to PT 8, plus the MPTK2 to get multitrack beat detective and the extra tracks. So I already have most of whats in PT9 unlike those with PT8LE, yet I've got to pay more...it should be less!!!

Anyway I'll just stick to what I've got and hope Cubase 6 has a multi track BDet type of function when it arrives, if it that had been in my Cubase 5 then I wouldnt have bought Protools in the first place, but now I've got it, it would be nice to have it on my main system too with ADC.

I will admit I skipped like 5 pages of this thread. Anywho hears my thinking on the subject.

PT9 ($599) - PTMP ($250) = PTMP crossgrade price ($349)

We can debate the fairness all we want, especially those (like me) that bought the MPTK. But in the end I look at it like this. Avid is giving you back the money you spent on PTMP when you buy PT9.

I know you are trying to be pragmatic but Avid is never going to give back the money spent to anyyone are they? If we are looking for an excuse to justify forking out for PT9 then think what this would have cost 10 years ago!! Alas this is'nt 10 years ago so the MP upgrade should be the same as the LE IMO, and I think once Avid have got over the well deserved rush due to opening up the software to other interfaces they will have time to sort this anomally out.
