Default Disable Automation Per Channel

Hi
I understand I can turn 'off' automation on a per channel basis but I'd like to 'option' click the whole session into touch but disable specific channels.
I could group all the 'active' tracks but is there a more elegant solution?

Many Thanks

Ben

You could Option+click any track name to select them all, then Command+click the ones you'd like to leave as is, then Shift+Option+click auto mode on any selected track.

Does that help?

Hi Stig
Thanks for the quick reply but I was hoping for a simpler method.
There are tracks I would never want to automate, such as layback tracks and auxes to limit stem tracks. It would be great not to have to manually select a range of tracks. Just disable all automation on those and be able to globally put everything else into touch.

I did look into disabling automation types on those tracks, is there a way to disable automation types on selected tracks? I can only seem to disable on a per channel basis or globally.

Many Thanks

Ben

Sorry, I'm not aware of a different method. But, why is it a problem to put all tracks into auto touch (or latch) mode? Only the tracks and parameters you change will be written.

Hi Stig

Thanks for your reply,
Its just that I won't ever want to write automation to those channels accidentally.

All the best

Ben

You can automation safe individual channels if you want to keep them at the current state.

Ah yes, that's true. Just click on the small fader in the audio output box, and click safe.

Thanks, trakbytes.

Create a group where only automation mode is linked And nothing else.
Then you can change modes including switch off from one fader or change individually by clicking on its name in the group window.
