Default Dear Digidesign...

I sent this message to tech support ([email protected]) five days ago and have not gotten any response. Maybe I'll get better service here?
Here's the message:

I've been having problems running LE 6.8.1 (Mbox2) on my Mac mini with the Tiger OS. So now I've discovered that I really need to have 6.9.2 or higher. But the downloadable update says that I have to have 6.7 or 6.9 to qualify for the update. What about 6.8? Don't I qualify for an update, having bought my system after 9/1/05? Please tell me what I can do. Thank you.

If you emailed that address, that is Customer Service Administration, which is the registration department:
www.digidesign.com/contact

To email Tech Support, you need to use the Tech Support Request Form:
www.digidesign.com/tsr

Pro Tools LE 6.9.2 is only for Digi 002, Digi 002 Rack, and Mbox, and added support for Tiger with those systems.
Pro Tools LE 6.8.1, which shipped originally with the Mbox 2, is only for the Mbox 2, and runs on both Mac OS X 10.3 and Tiger:
www.digidesign.com/compato

Pro Tools LE 7 is a free update for all Mbox 2 owners:
www.digidesign.com/download/70

When you register your Mbox 2 hardware online, you will receive an email with instructions to download your free update:
www.digidesign.com/support/cs/reg

Pro Tools LE 6.8.1, 7.0, and 7.1 all support the Mbox 2 on Tiger. You may want to go ahead and update first, then contact Tech Support using the TSR form with additional details of the problem. Or not, they'll still help you if you are on 6.8.1, but the update to 7 is free.

Thanks for all that!
However, I can't seem to figure how to get that download. There's no direct link that I can see.

But I did find this:
"Registered owners that purchased a new Digi 002, Digi 002 Rack, Mbox 2, or Mbox, or a Pro Tools LE 6.9 Upgrade on or after September 1, 2005 from an authorized Digidesign dealer are eligible for a free upgrade to Pro Tools LE 7."
And this:
"Qualified owners will receive a Pro Tools LE 7 Update email notification with all of the details needed to obtain their free upgrade and purchase options."

What if I bought a brand new, factory sealed Mbox 2 from someone on ebay? Do I still qualify?

Look for the onlne registration card in the box. Once you register the Mbox 2 hardware portion, you'll get the automatic email. As long as it has not already been registered, it should not be a problem. You'll be registered as the owner, and also get the free update.

By the way, giving customers adequate support is one of the reasons that authorized Digi dealers are not allowed to sell on eBay. An authorized dealer would have either sold you an Mbox 2 with PTLE 7 in the box if you bought recently, or been able to tell you how to get the update.

Isn't it funny how one always find the answer to something just after posting the question?

Oh well. Have a nice day, everybody.
