Send automation not working

Have a session going and wanting to send some bass guitar to an aux with various fx for an outro to a song. I've tried write and touch and it just wont write/record the fader automation.

I have trashed preferences; that did not help.

Anything I may be missing?

I would expand the track(in the EDIT window, click the tiny arrow at the bottom left of your bass track). On this added lane, set it to show the send level. Now you have a volume line for the send. Grab any area that you want to send to your Aux/effect track and use the smart tool to raise the send level. Maybe watch some youtube videos on this as a picture(err...video) is was better than my description

And maybe check the "Automation Window", that send level is enabled (red).
