Default Anyone use a "tiltwheel" mouse (scrollwheel that goes left & right)?

Can PT utilize the extra functions of a 4-way tiltwheel on a mouse?

I know there are other programs like X-Mouse and SteerMouse that allow us to modify what the buttons do, but do they work in Pro Tools? Has anyone set this up?

THANKS!

They usually have the typical left & right arrow around the mousewheel, like this:

Thought it'd be a great way to horizontally scroll the edit window, or be programmable to perform completely different functions even (like undo/redo :P).

I can't recommend X-Mouse Button Control for PC enough. Works just fine in Pro Tools or any other program I've set it up for. Here's my PT specific commands:

Left Click = Left Click
Right Click = "B" (separate at cursor in Commands Focus Mode)
Wheel Button = Ctrl+B (Clear, and Wheel Button+Alt brings up the Bounce Dialogue)
Back Thumb Button = NumPad "+" (Nudge Right)
Front Thumb Button = NumPad "-" (Nudge Left)
Tilt Left = Delete
Tilt Right = Right Click

XMBC has 5 layers available, so, with a 7 button mouse like you have, you could have 35 Pro Tools commands programmed for the mouse. I only use one layer because I don't think I could remember more than 7

Cheers,

Hey thanks for this! I'm looking into X-Mouse for the first time, but am not having the same kind of success as you are.

For instance, I don't see the options "Delete", "B", "Ctrl+B" or even the numpad "+/-" in the drop-down menus for any of the buttons. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to choose differently from what the provided options are?

I'll post a different screengrab later--I cant screengrab with the drop-down menu open for some reason.

THANKS!
