Default Can I change the sample rate?

Everything opens up in default 44.1. Wondering if I can change to 48.

Even when I create a new project, I'm not prompted for sample rate, etc and by default I'm at 44.1.

On that note, where's a good "Getting Started" tutorial? I havent used PT in about 3 years (10yr Cubase user), and have forgotten the basics :P

THANKS!!

You set session sample rates and bit depth in the "session parameters" pulldown of the "Create New Session" dialog. It will be staring you in the face, click on the little arrow to expand it.

You can also do a Save Session Copy, to create a copy of an existing session with a different sample rate.

All this is covered in the Pro Tools Reference Guide installed automatically with your copy of Pro Tools. And also available online at
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...-Documentation. it is east to search that PDF but also worth reading sum of the chapter, it is generally well written and very useful.

Are you aware that this is regarding Pro Tools FIRST?

Because I don't see EITHER of those options. No "Session Paramaters" or "Save Session Copy" that I can find.

Wondering now if the ability to change sample rates from 44.1 is just removed from the stripped down PT1st.

Hi JLiRD808!
Yes you can change to 48. you can actually choose from 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96..
Just hold the "N" button on your keyboard upon starting up PROTOOLS|First to toggle the Playback Engine Toolbox
Hope this one helps.

Best Regards!

That didn't work. All it did was cause the AAE error -6117 and forced me to quit (see attached pic). No Playback Engine Toolbox popped up.

Did I mention that I'm on W7 PC?

That said, where are we supposed to find info like this? I just browsed this entire tutorial doc, and found nothing about "holding down N"

http://akmedia.digidesign.com/suppor...irst_85131.pdf

Is there another document I should be reading too?

Thanks.

Hello JLiRD808

I suggest you download and install ASIO4ALL from http://www.asio4all.com if you don't have it running on your system yet.
Hope this helps.

You want me to use ASIO4ALL, even though I have Tascam and EMU ASIO drivers for my interfaces??

Can you answer the other question, about where to find further tutorial information? How much can we learn from the standard PT12 tutorials?

Thanks!

Hi JLiRD808,

The reason for the ASIO4ALL download is to test the issue of driver compatibility. really sorry for the troubles.

Regardarding The tutorial about PTF, here are some additional helpful PDFs
