Arturia Synths - is more RAM the answer
i recently purchased some ARTURIA software, namely the new minimoog and the ARP 2600 - however i cannot seem to run the stably at all - every time i open an instance they disconnect my 003 and show me the one of the two DAE errors that signify needing a higher buffer size ...
if i open these plugs in a blank session i can run them but only at a buffer size of 1024 - which is impossible to track on due to the latency? I have a Mac Pro with 2 x3 Quad-core intel xeon processors and ... 8 gb of RAM i am running pt8 LE with a 003 ... basically my computer is pretty quick but this is devastating it??? will more RAM be the answer?? if so how much - another 4gb - another 8 gb? pls help if you can, many thanks, alex. |

Re: Arturia Synths - is more RAM the answer
You should be able to run those just fine on your system, plus much more. Are you sure you have the latest updates to the programs downloaded and installed? If you just installed from the discs it may not be the latest version.

Try reducing the number of processors dedicated to RTAS processing in the Playback Engine. Reduce by 1 until you no longer see errors.

Not having to do that here with the 2600V. Works fine with all 4 processors. I don't know about the Minimoog because I don't have that.

Re: Arturia Synths - is more RAM the answer
Sadly, I'm just having nothing but problems with the Arturia products. I'm on a Mac Pro, 8-core Harpertown, 10G of RAM, PT 8.0.4, Mac OS 10.6.3, and if I even open one of these synths for about two minutes, it will completely take down my system, forcing a restart, etc...
I've lowered my processors from 8 to 7 to 6 to 5 to 4 to 3 and it's always the same problem. I'm using the latest versions that Arturia offers. I've written to Arturia and would be open to any suggestions you guys have. I'll also let you all know what Arturia says. It's discouraging. Great products that simply don't work. If anyone has ideas, I'd much appreciate them! |

Re: Arturia Synths - is more RAM the answer
When you say "the latest versions", do you mean the latest downloadable updates to those versions?

Re: Arturia Synths - is more RAM the answer
Arturia products, ESPECIALLY the Moog, have always required more resources than the average synth plugins. It has gotten better over the years but it still requires proper settings. Use the latest versions - there have been major updates over the past year or so.
