Question Decklink HD Extreme 3D

Hello,

Is the Blackmagic Decklink HD Extreme 3D officially qualified for use with Pro Tools v8.0.3cs1 (or later)? If this information is posted somewhere, I cannot find it easily.

Thanks for reading!

While it is not officially qualified it works largely as expected. One of our clients installed one a couple of weeks ago and while there were some codec issues related to the H264 files being used, the card behaved as expected.

Hello,

Could you please elaborate on these H264 codec issues?

Thank you,

For some reason, which we didn't have time to get to the bottom of, when PT played the H264 out of the PCI card it would only present the top 1/2 of the frame. Converting these same files to DNX 36 fixed the issue.

I would have liked to have tested with other H264 codec pictures or had the troublesome files reproduced but time was a limiting factor.

Exclamation Re: Decklink HD Extreme 3D

Any comment AVID? I don't think Blackmagic produces the non-3D version of this card any longer. What am I supposed to do here?

They were still about 4-5 weeks ago (post-NAB) although maybe our supplier still had a good amount of stock - got an Extreme III card here.

In general with Blackmagic stuff, they pretty much use the same drivers. There's a lot of people using 'unsupported' models with no hassle (one of the intensity models i think?)

Thumbs up Re: Decklink HD Extreme 3D

I just found the link that lists the 3D as being blessed with holy water.

https://c.na2.visual.force.com/apex/...1r400000001lab

Actually, that link probably won't work, but I found it in the support database, I swear.

Make sure you have "High Quality QT Image" selected in your prefs.
