Default Fonts looking blurry on new mac install

So I'm new to mac and recently purchased a 2012 macbook pro. The computer came with el capitan installed so I've already went through the downgrade process to 10.8.5 so the computer will play nice with Pro tools 10 and my mbox2. Installed lion by way of creating a USB boot drive. Anyway, I've noticed the fonts are bit blurry within Pro tools on things such as the splash screen and such. I've read a little bit about font smoothing and it is turned on in my mac preferences. Is this a known issue with Mountain lion and is there a fix? Its not the end of the world but is slightly annoying.

thanks
