Favorite/best trackball mouse? Mine's not side scrolling the edit window >:(

Have had the Logitech Marble Trackman for years, and I've always used a 3rd party program called Marble Mouse Wheel to overcome it's lack of a scroll wheel/ring.

However, it doesn't seem to be working in Pro Tools (I just migrated from Cubase). I push SHIFT+mousewheel but it won't side scroll any of the edit windows. I'm thinking I've just pushed the limitations of this thing and it's time to upgrade trackballs.

Any favs here? Is the Kensington Expert still super popular? I don't know if the huge profile is for me, though I am imagine you get used to it. http://www.kensington.com/us/us/4493...s#.VeN0j_mbyUk

the Orbit sucks, the Expert Mouse is the Hollywood standard
that said the Kensington software is not what it use to be
SteerMouse is popular replacement software config http://plentycom.jp/en/steermouse/ it might work for you

I don't recommend buying a used unit

cheap, broke easily
and they were only used with the System 5 eMix computer

I don't know of a Windows equivalent to Steermouse

The Expert Mouse is great. Been using the same one for many years now, and it's still going strong. Thanks for the tip on SteerMouse, Craig.

I've been using both the Orb and the Expert Mouse. While the scroll ring on the Expert Mouse is annyoing, because it scrubs over a screw head and therefor always has that slight scratchy feel to it, the Orb is a smooth as can be. I've been using it at home for 3 or 4 years now, and nothing ever broke. Also, it costs only a fraction of the Expert Mouse, (while haveing two buttons less, in case that's important).
I'd always go with the Orb over the Expert Mouse.

Longtime Expert Mouse user (5 or so), finally went to Kensington Slimblades when I couldn't get EMs anymore in my country. Gone through 3 Slimblades, but still like them. Stuff wears out... even when it's optical...

I use a Logitech G700s, with the Logitech Gaming Utility I set the click-left-mouswheel to "Alt Page up" (scroll by page left) and click-right-mouswheel to "Alt Page down" (scroll by page right).
(9 more programmable buttons on that mouse.)
