MXL is a hit or miss brand. Even with their higher end products, the quality control isn't the best and you either get a really good one or one that barely works.
I've been using Rode NT1-A for many years, it's a great mike for the price. The QC is top-notch as well from what I've noticed.

I like the Rode but we got a pair a few years ago and the packing had disintegrated into the capsules, the replacements were fine

I remember when the NT first came out and some guy was taking about the Rodent instead of Rode NT

The main thing I will be using the new mic for is vocals and acoustic guitar.

I plan to plug the bass guitar directly into the Mbox 2 mini.

I plan to buy a Sure SM57 to mic my Marshall half stack.

I plan to record drums by using Roland pads plugged into a Roland MIDI interface plugged into my computer and triggering sounds from either EZDrummer or Addictive Drums program.

Thanks again for all responses.
For the SM 57 I would consider buying a license for eleven LE on ebay it's a little expensive but about 75 (including the Ilok transfer fee) sounds really nice in my opinion.

The Bluebird is a mighty fine microphone. I use it as a second mic on guitar cabs and it does an awesome job on vocals. Great little piece to have around!

I did forget to mention that I have a bluebird that I use as the right mic for my acoustic guitar where as my left mic that is pointed at the bridge is my ksm 137. I think they sound pretty well together creates a unique effect. I have also used the bluebird to record other things as well. I enjoy the sound it produces as far as the baby bottle I don't think it's worth an extra 100. As far as the Rode NT2A if you have a need for Omni and Figure of 8 as well as the pads then go for it.
