How about this: if you're only going to give me one rotary encoder per channel then LET ME PAN STEREO TRACKS WITH ONE KNOB! ...please.

Two rotary encoders give more flexibility, but you can lock them together if you like.

Which is why Avid should buy Mulligan from Leigh and incorporate it into PT. People want to control plugins with knobs and Mulligan is the best implementation of this so far. If they want to ditch the M-Audio protocol, fine, but give us an alternative that won’t break the bank. Cost me about $100 to get it going w a X-Touch Mini (an actually good, original Behringer product.) got me off the mouse a lot more while mixing.

I am seriously considering not renewing my PT perpetual license tax when it comes up next time. I’ve been on PT since the late 90s.

Hello,
still having some issues with PT 2024.3 on Sonoma:

- Pro Tools just quits without any warning "in the middle of work"
- When quitting PT, there's a crash message "Pro Tools quit unexpectedly" (More of a nuisance)

Anyone else having those kind of issues?

Mac Pro 14.8, Sonoma 14.3.1, Pro Tools HDX 2024.3

Hi there....

Can you create a case and attach a few crash logs and reports as that will help tech quite a bit in assisting you on this......

The case can be created from your MyAvid - log in and go to My Support and then the Support portal.

Pro Tools crash reports: https://avidtech.my.salesforce-sites...sh-information

Pro Tools log files: https://avidtech.my.salesforce-sites...o-Tools-System

if you need help.... shout out.

The best thing Avid could do would be just to allow mapping of standard midi messages to controls, like pretty much every other DAW does. E.g. click "learn" somewhere, click a knob in your plugin, turn a knob on your controller. Rinse & repeat for all the knobs you want to control, and then save your plugin settings as the default settings. Who needs extra protocols, when MIDI already does this?

same boat here. pt user since 2005 and will likely stick with 2023.12 until Avid either brings back M-Audio control, or implements stock MIDI control.

Hearing this crashing stuff, I'm going to start using my trusty back up rig with Mt. Lion & PT10 for tracking only.

THEN MIX ON 2024

Just getting back in the swing of things after the holiday, and man, that would be devastating tracking live bands and (CRASHO).

Yes both of these on 2024.3, 13.6.5, Mac ultra, tb native - have created a case for the sudden crash , did stage one troubleshooting, delete prefs/aax cache /import to new session/thin out plugins but as working had to keep the session plugs in the folder. rolled back to 2023.12.1 today and not had a crash as yet, same setup, same plugins.

btw love the new midi side of things, thanks for that. I've noticed a few odd compensation differences when pro tools creates a chain to when it doesn't, for example fab filter q 3 which I use a lot is midi enabled so any use of this after a VI creates a chain, depending on the routing and the VI there seems to be differences in what I'm hearing in the session and what an offline bounce produces. So far as again working I've not been able to reproduce, and using eg Minigrand does not seem to cause this so I suspect certain 3rd party plugs, of which I use many. I will report back if I get something I can reproduce.
