Default Surrendered PT10/11 to upgrade

Thanks Soldiwalnut.

This further cements what I was saying about the confusion. The poster above you says you surrender your 10/11 license which is true according to the AVID web store, but others have also mentioned this is not the case.

Your screenshots prove you do retain your licenses on the $99 upgrade.

Very confusing.

No, you don't retain your licenses. You surrender your current one in favor of receiving a new one.

I know there have been miscommunications and people with true troubles with Avid, but I must say...

Here's a link to Benoni's thread which tells all. Check out the video.

http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=366299

Your'e ARE surrendering the PT 11 license, but what you're getting in return is a PT 10/11/12 license and links to download each separately.

No, you don't need to uninstall PT11 first as the installer will tell you that the new version will uninstall PT11.

And, not directed at you, Sardi, but for all who might be looking at this thread, I think it's important to seek out the counsel of of the moderators of this forum. Miscommunication happens too easily.

Well... my experiences are somewhat different

When I originally purchased the $99 option, I DID surrender my PT10/11 license (& did NOT receive a combo PT10/11/12 licence in return... just a PT12 license).

Even the people at Avid didn't seem to know if or why the PT10/11 license needed to be surrendered with the $99 option, so the confusion surrounding the issue is hardly surprising. It does appear Avid have (rightly) amended the policy, but they should really update the Store info & FAQ's to reflect this.

On the plus side, having subsequently gone for the $199 option, I'm pleased to report that some of the additional plug-ins are surprisingly usable (even though I'm already covered for most of them). Let's hope they don't become indispensable...

When I upgraded I lost my 10/11 licenses but I did get a studio one license so it worked out.

I did the $99 upgrade from 10/11 Bundle a view minutes ago and get the 10/11/12 bundle. I also had upfront two opposite answers from avid (email & chat support)...but in the end I just did it and maybe had just luck to get the 10/11/12 right away.

What is the average time from purchase of an upgrade to when it shows up in your account? Hours? Days?
Once the order goes through and is approved with a confirmation should
the product be available that day, even on weekends?

Hey

One would "think" its instant but I can check this as I seen this exact question asked several times. When we did this upgrade on one of our vanilla 11 to 12 we had the upgrade license within a few minutes and the installers were there straight away after loggin out and loggin back into the account.

Well I went ahead and did the $99 Upgrade and it went fast.
At first after the purchase went through, I clicked on the My Products Not Down Loaded link and nothing was there.
Then I figured out I needed to click on the, Pro Tools Annual Upgrade Plan link within the My Products area.
All the download links were there along with my System ID of course.
A little awkward I guess but it was pretty fast.
So all I need to do is download and install.
Edit: Yes, I did get the license bundle with 10,11 and 12 so all is well there also.
