Re: Holy Preamp deal batman!!
looks like they are clearing them out to make room for the new MQ3 which is replacing the VC3Q.

Re: Holy Preamp deal batman!!
Since I don't own a preamp, but do own a SP C1mic, I am considering this thing.
I will assume that for 99 bucks it is worth it. My questions 1) Does it matter that the in/outs are unbalanced? 2) I will mainly be recording Vocals, female, maybe a little spoken word. Is there something else I should consider, for maybe a small amount more? Or is this the next KORG OASYS deal? GEAR LUST.... Re: Holy Preamp deal batman!!
Are the Joe Meek VC3Q pre's better than using a Mackie 1604 VLZ?
I have a Joe Meek VC3Q on hold, don't know if I should buy it or not. Thanks! |

Re: Holy Preamp deal batman!!
I HAD a VC3Q and sold it..It is good for some things- It CAN fatten things up but be very careful cause sometimes what I thought was "FAT", I later decided was muddy-sounding.Definitely use it with only a few things in your mix..Tracking everything thru it may prove a litlle dull sounding. The Mackie / or Digi pres will be more open and nuetral but for $100, its a nice "color" to have. I've also seen several postings about its noise- apparently its picky about where it "sits" in your studio..hopefully away from "all thing electrical"..but again --for a hundred bucks..seems like a deal..but not at $399 I didnt think. just my 2 cents

Re: Holy Preamp deal batman!!
SO I have only confirmed that ;
1) Danocaster thinks it sounds "muddy" 2) A gear slut is what you become if you give in to Gear Lust.... 3) Because of their ability to have "multiples" Women can have a much more severe case of Gear Lust. BUt this doesn't get me very far. So I ask again...?!? If I will be recording MOSTLY female vocals witha Studio Projects C1 for house music, should I be using a pre amp or just run it into the 001? I have seen many people saying "the digi preamp is noisy, or whatever. You need a decent (read I don't have a million dollars) preamp " SO again. Do I need a preamp, and if so would this be considered a good deal, and probably all i will need? I have heard some good things about the Joe Meek line, and to aquire my first preamp for 99 bucks (if I should have one) would be great. DUC ROCKS!!! |

Re: Holy Preamp deal batman!!
I've used em, not impressed. Mackie VLZ pre's sound better(not that they are that great either) but IMHO I wouldn't waste the money. Save for something vastly better.
