For what it's worth, the AISO issues are what caused me to to go to a Mac.......
That was back when Win7 and focusrite couldn't make the system stable for me.... Yes a quad core Mac Pro 2009 should be less than $450 on eBay......

Greg's comment "One thing I know for sure is that a 1394 pci card in a predominantly pcie motherboard doesn't work well with Presonus interfaces. Presonus tech support opened my eyes to this and they were absolutely correct." I think I will buy the Sweetwater siig card. I don't have a PCIE Siig card and probably will need it down the road if i build another system.

I was able to get things back to a stable format by taking out the firewire card uninstalling the drivers running CC clean Regsitry clean and then reinstalling the card in another slot. I went back to the legacy driver as i always had . This is way over my head as to what made the correction, but hope it helps someone else.
