Default Digidesign!... wake up!...

Why on earth does it take all this time for digidesign to test the damn new mac´s??? If not approving 100% at least give us an up-to-date report...

Hell, the faster bus speed and extra pci slot is soo badly wanted here that I can´t wait any longer... And I would like to try selling my G4/400 (before it´s worth less than $0).

I get this bad feeling after reading someone who posted the (mix farm?) card was not working with his new G4...

The feeling isn´t getting any better when Digi can´t give us a single word... Might be I´m all ****´d up (?) but it does give me a bad feeling :-/

Let us know!!!!!

It's my understanding that there are only two of the new Macs which haven't been tested - and I don't think they're shipping yet (the 667 and 773 MHz versions)... Check out the compato docs link at the bottom of the page.

on the new g4 466 and 533, will the extra mix farms be detected if version pro tools 5.1 is in use?

my understanding is that if version 5.0.1 is used, the mix farm is not detected, only the mix core is.

let me know if anyone has a set up with new 466, mix PLUS, and 5.1 running like a charm.

thx

So the only 2 MAcs that are shipped at the moment are the 466MHz and the 533MHz. Digialready tested these Macs with Mix Plus etc. But they did these tests only with the new Software 5.1. It has noat been tested with the Software 5.01.
It´s true that an additional Mix Farm is not recognized in Software version 5.01. Also Pro Tools24 is not running with software 5.01 in a G4/466. I have the same problem.
We just have to wait for the release of 5.1.
It needs the new DAE/DSI for the 466 and 533 G4.

From what I've seen/heard, 5.01 was not tested with the New Macs. 5.1 will be approved with them, although I'm not sure if they've all been tested yet.
And yes, 5.1 recognizes all cards.

All I can say Digidaw is .. relax.
Stop obsessing. If it's so important, go buy one of the new machines and try it out before selling your incredibly slow and inept G4/400

Digidaw Chill out!
Hey I used a 7100 with a PTIII setup till last May and although slow , it did my work everyday and I even made some freelance money on side over those 4.5 years.

I'm running a G4/400 mix like you and wow get creative results and win awards with it! Imagine that!

I'd rather have rock solid stability (like I have now) across a dozen different configurations which are used by people like Mutt Lang down to us lowly radio stations than to throw caution to the wind and then have people like you bitchin about some incompatibility.

Slow and steady gets you to your destination unlike that famous ship........... what was it?
oh yeah the Titanic!
