Personally I'd use Export MIDI command then Import MIDI.

As we are talking about MIDI drum patterns. Does anybody know how to EXPORT a programmed MIDI drum pattern which has been done in PT to say a 4-bar/1-track MIDI clip?
Not a whole MIDI file for the song with all the tracks, just a short clip that can then maybe later be added to an EZDrummer library or something like that.

you can probably hilight the midi you want exported, then export, then import into whatever session you want. If this does not work, just export/import all of it and use what you need. I have a client who does beats on Reason, then brings them to me, we get rid of the reason mixer and rout to Pro Tools....he does not read or write music, so I export the midi files out of his reason songs into Pro Tools and use the score editor to figure out what notes/chords he is playing to add live instruments easily.

Good question, you need to mute all regions bar the one for exporting.
