Default H/W Buffer size problems...

I hope someone can help me figure this out - I've just installed ProTools Le 6.1.1 (using the MBox) on my computer that runs XP Pro, with 800 MHz, and 640MB of RAM. After some initial struggles I was able to open a previously recorded session done on another computer. Everytime I try to play the session I get the infamous "The operating system has held off interrupts for too long. Try increasing the H/W Buffer size, etc." This is perplexing because the H/W Buffer size is already maxed out at 1024 with the CPU usage set to anywhere from 65% to 85%.

It usually occurs after about 30 seconds of playback, after closing the error message and playing again, it pops up again almost immediately.

As far as I know, all of my system settings are appropriate, but there seems to be something hanging this up. I can't even begin to record new tracks when it can't handle the simple playback function.

I'm all ears...

Just curious, does your session have Sampletank on it? I've noticed most buffer problems seem to occur on sessions with Sampletank....coinsidence? I dunno.

Welcome to the DUC...

Sorry to have to break the news to ya but 800 MHz is too slow and the USB implementation is most likely too slow also, did you read the Mbox Supported CPU Models & Requirements?

Time for a new comptuer eh?

I tried PT 5.3.1 on a 900 Mhz Athlon and had to set the H/W buffers to 2048 to record a single track, anything lower pops, clicks and errors.
