Default Internal Mac audio to PTLE

Is there any way to route audio from another Mac application to Pro Tools LE without running an audio cable outside of the computer?

I have some older instrument plugins that no longer show up inside PTLE on my new Intel Mac but I'm not willing to upgrade everything yet for financial reasons. I just wanted to record them live into Pro Tools.

?

Thanks

The software you're looking for is called 'audio hijack pro' and is extremely useful for nicking sound from things like skype. There is a demo version which adds noise after about 5 minutes of use but can be restarted if you don't think it's worth the few shillings it costs to register it... I don't know whether you can get it to work as a real time solution, perhaps in combination with Jack, or rewire.

P.S beware of gladstone (19th century British history reference)

Happy 'jacking'.

Maybe soundflower from cycling 74 will do the trick. I have not tried with Pro Tools yet, but it is free and worth a try.

To my knowledge, Soundflower will not work with LE. It works with daws that use core audio devices only.

I have had much success with JackOSX and getting audio into and out of PTLE. Check out my other posts. There's even a vid I made on how to do it. You can only use it if you have a VST wrapper though.

Great little video and a cracker of a move - cant say it works for me though - I dont get PTools listed in JackPilot as tracks to send too - the jackinsert will load alright but has no knob just a fader and im sure its latest install. Im on intel macbookpro with PT 7.3.1 on OS 10.4.8
You say you get audio out of PT internally as well - this you dont show and is what Id most like to see

cheers

Thanks even more LE692 - use the jack sends and out it comes - Ive got some 3d software that I can know use protools sessions with - ie audio and midi out of protools into software and out through a second interface. Maybe one day digi will set up sharing devices then I'll be laughing

best
