Default Xpand2 question

I think I already know the answer to my question is "no", but I"m going to ask anyway. Is there a way that the arp data in a voice can show up in the midi editor as the arp itself? It'd be nice to be able to set up a voice with a particular arp and then actually print the score of the arp notes.

Just wondering.

Also, does anyone know, is there any sort of plug in out there that is simply an arp generator...something that you could use as a plug in routed to a selected soft synth (or output to a particular midi channel to anything, really), with a wide range of arp editing features and choices in several styles? I've never come across one, but wondered about that, too.

Yes. It's called; Pro Tools.

Could you please elaborate on what you mean? What plug-in with PT are you referring to?

I'm not talking about a plugin; I'm talking about just plain Pro Tools.

I know you're looking more for the "automatic arpeggiator" feature found on many synths, where you press the keys and it automatically arpeggiates the notes you are playing in a certain predefined order, but the "arps" they are creating are just regular "arpeggios".
While not exactly the same as an automatic synth arpeggiator, you can build arpeggios on a MIDI/Instrument track with the pencil tool and loop/copy/paste them to your hearts content. They will play just about any MIDI instrument that you choose to use them with. You can also store these "arps" as short MIDI files and import them into any session.

With a little up front work, you can create an entire library of MIDI "arps" for use in any session; drag and drop.

Yes I know it's not the same, and not as creatively inspiring as using an auto-arp, but... you asked.

Directly, no. Though you can bus record the pattern, insert a HPF to mark the transients (groove) and edit to match pitch.

I had a feeling that's what you meant. And while I have done this sort of thing...note sequences are not the only thing contained within the better arp generators. I'd rather have a plug-in where I could input an algorithm or edit one and then see what evolves and then decide how I might use it. The time involved in building any sort of library is too time consuming and even then I'd never have all the options I might want to run through. With an arp generator I can try out several options quickly with a patch or patch combo. That's why I'd like to have one.
