Firmware will not update

Just bought a new 002R with 6.1 on an XP system. Installed a dynex firewire card and it appears that I have good comm between PTLE and the rack. 1394 LED flashes and I can change sample rate and get front panel indication.

I have 2 problems... Upon first PT LE boot it reminds mw that the 002 contains firmware v.1.08r and the PT LE app is using v.1.11r. That's to be expected but when I confirm download of firmware to the unit it tells me that the download has failed to check connections. I'm quite sure connections are good. Any ideas here?

Secondly... If I go ahead and run PT LE it seems to load fine and I can open new tracks but cannot record on them. I get a mic signal on the mixer VU meter in PT LE but I keep getting warnings that my H/W buffers are either set too high or too low, depending on play mode or record mode. This could be another H/W or S/W setting issue but maybe it's because the firmware versions are not matched??? Any ideas here?

My system is set up as follows: ASUS A7A266 MB with ALi chipset. Athlon 2+GHz processor, 512M DDR, internal partitioned fast HD. No other components connected to the firewire bus. All windows service packs installed, DMA enabled, other background apps (mostly) have been disabled. Local lan card disabled, etc.

I would be most appreciative if anyone could help.

Digidesign knowledgebase is of no help in this matter.

I would recommend the Adaptec 4300 FireWire card.

Have you checked your IRQ assignments for any conflicts?

Rail, I have not checked for an IRQ conflict. I will do that.

I just saw in the Digi site that they recommended the Siig firewire card and they have that down at best buy. I bought the Dynex to save $10 thinking that a FW port is a FW port. I'll exchange it Friday and see what happens.
