Default How to uninstall Avid plugs

Hello, I want to uninstall Avid plugs (EQ, Dyn, Sci-Fi, etc). How do I do this?

I have deleted them from-
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/
/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/
/Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-Ins/

I've tried moving them to the unused folder and they keep popping back up in the plugs folder as soon as I launch PT11. What am I missing? Thanks!

The core plugs keep reinstalling themselves, unless you hack the PT11 app from the Applications folder. Right-click the app to show package contents and find the plugs from there. Once deleted, they won't show up anymore.

Remember that this is something that Avid definitely does not recommend :)

Thanks, JFreak! So what's the downside to doing this? Any idea why Avid doesn't recommend?

Downside would be that PT won't copy the core plugs to the plugin folder on each startup, so if your plugin file corrupts or whatnot, it's gone until the next PT update is installed. But then again, that's how it has always been.

Avid naturally does not recommend doing the opposite that they have decided. In their mind it is good for us that the core plugins are copied from the PT app each time you start the app. And we of course want to use Avid plugins, right?

But if you want to get rid of those and use something else, you can.

Takes longer to start PT and the plugin list becomes longer, nothing more.

Longer by milliseconds but in the grand scheme of things that's inconsequential.

Well somebody just asked how to save some milliseconds, can you say this savings is not worth one's while..? Maybe the guy earns a million a month and the millisecond costs a fortune

We're here to help.
