2021.3 Installation Freezes Computer
I downloaded 2021.3 through Avid link and tried to install the update and ran into a problem. After the download was extracted and I started installation, it started on the "Installing Pace License Support" and after a short while, froze my Windows 10 system forcing a hard reboot. I remember I had problems updating the iLok Manager when I had to, but haven't had problems since. Any suggestions? Thanks all

Maybe try installing as administrator. I would go to the Avid Link download folder, extract all the files, then right click on setup.exe and choose Run as administrator.
Typically I'll uninstall the old version of PT; selecting to uninstall both PT and HD Driver and reboot the system. Then install the new one and reboot again. Not sure why Pace specifically would hang your system, but you could also try unplugging your iLok during that part of the install. |

2 things with Windows 10:
#1-you MUST uninstall the previous version*** #2-most of us now do NOT use the Run as Admin option(this was recommended to me by an Avid support person and it has worked fine, going back to PT 2018) ***Re the uninstall, you must dig deeper than the Apps and Features page by clicking Programs and Features(upper right corner) and wait a minute for the list to populate. Once you right-click on Avid Pro Tools and select Change, if the next window offers the option to also remove the HD driver, DO select that.

Well, I uninstalled Pro Tools along with the HD Driver and then I tried to reinstall 2021.3. I have the same problem where the installation stops and freezes my compueter during the "Installing Pace License SUpport" phase. Any other suggestions?

Grasping at straws, but it's worth a look. Check and make sure all your USB power management is disabled. (Assuming you're using a PHYSICAL I-lok and not the "cloud" version?) If it can't see your I-lok because Windows shut off the USB port, I can imagine it causing this problem. Just a wild guess.
