Hi, looking to buy Mbox gen 3 with protools 9 pack, for solo home recording (acoustic guitar and vocals).. however after reading system requirements on the version 9, it seems to say nothing about windows vista being compatible.. am i going to have to update to windows 7 for this to run? any help would be very much appreciated. thankyou.

M:

You can find the system specs for Win7 HERE

Your system most likely perform far better under Win7 than Vista. At the university where I teach, we have converted hundreds - very happy customers

Depends on how old the computer is. We can't answer your question until we get that kind of info. There's no such thing as TMI in these cases.

I would say it's very likely you will bump into problems with your Acer Extensa 5620.

Here is the list of machines that Avid officially support (both mac and pc)
http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...p?DocId=380535

If you feel adventurous (like i did) you can try building your own pc with a unofficially supported pc based on the I7 builts thread :
http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=238426

The safe bet (and my choice if I was shopping today) would be to get imac or mac pro.

You do know:

what brand & model computer you have
when you brought it
it's basic specs

right?

That's the info we need. We're not mind-readers here. Computer systems are all different, especially if you're dealing with a Windows machine and not a Mac.

You don't need to know computer tech to give us that info. And if all you want to do is some recording just get a Zoom H4N handheld and use that.
