Thinking about 003 rack...Factory plugin quality?
Trying to decide if it's worth the extra money to get the Factory plugins. I'd really only be interested in the compressors, maxim, chorus and equalizer. How good are these? Would I be better off just getting third party plugins? Thanks!

Re: Thinking about 003 rack...Factory plugin quality?
How much money are we talking about? Personally I think there's a whole lot more interesting plug-ins out there...
EQ - Well, the Joe Meek stuff are colored, so it's really a matter of taste. I don't use it. Maxim - I haven't spent much time with this. I think most people here would say it's not really good, and hey, since Massey has released a limiter that's really good and dirt cheap, there really is no reason not having a great limiter. Personally I use the McDSP one, but the Massey is very good as well. I haven't really compared the two to see which one is better. Compressor - See EQ. Chorus - It's sad to see that there are so few choruses out there, used well, it's a really cool effect. I don't think you have that many options for choruses if you don't take all the delays into the equation that can behave like choruses. |
