Default Moving sessions to PreSonus Quantum 2626

I have used a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 (2nd Gen) for several years. It is a great device. I upgraded my monitors and, in a moment of holiday spirit, sprung for a PreSonus Quantum 2626. Set up was a bit circular due to MacOS issues, but mostly easy. Oh, happiness and joy!

Now I have to consider how to migrate all of my existing sessions to use the new hardware. I have not changed anything in Pro Tools yet nor opened any sessions.

I ran a couple of web searches to locate articles or videos about change the I/O set up in existing sessions. The result were all over the board and none I found were really on topic.

I would be grateful for links to articles or vids that discuss updating PT and sessions to use a new interface.

You don’t have to “migrate” anything at all. Just when you open the session with the new hardware for the first time, it’s going to kick out a message about all the paths it can’t find. You’d have to migrate if you changed your recording drive, but not when you change an interface….the interface is not a storage device. Really nothing to do except decide if you want to “save a detailed report.” Just say “no” and go back to work.

Thanks for the post. I assume that means that other than the I/O setup, the rest would be just checking the track assignments?

Read about saving sets for different interfaces. That sparked my curiosity.

Cool. The 2626 is a really solid Thunderbolt interface. Mine has been flawless, running on Windows. I also use an 8-ch ADAT expander (my older Focusrite LS56 interface in ADAT slave mode) for 16 ins.

That is correct. The only thing that changes is that your current session will not be able to resolve the input path and possibly the output path since they had a different name using the old interface.

Just go through your tracks, assign them to your new I/O paths and save the session.
