Default Is Mackie Universal Control pro ok? or another?

Hi all
New here, just bought Pro Tools 12

I want the most simple DAW controller to use, I have heard the Mackie Universal Pro is the most stable, and simple.

Any pointers appreciated?

Just be aware it only works with Pro Tools in HUI mode only. Avid wants to tell folks it does not care much about HUI, and wants to push its EUCON protocol. So you get less features and fader resolution than EUCON or MCU, and worse case maybe HUI stops working in Pro Tools in future, but it's hard to believe that even Avid would be that stupid.

But for HUI and for MCU with other DAWs these are simple and work well. It largely all depends on what you want. Personally I would rather have this than put up with the bugginess of Avid Artist series stuff. Want to spend more and want more features, the S3 does look nicer...

BTW if you are really after a HUI/MCU surface, and not a EUCON one, the next step up I can think of is the SSL Nucleus. http://www2.solidstatelogic.com/stud...leus#&panel1-1

Thanks Darryl
I understand that. I like the S3, and SSL Nucleus, but too pricey!

HUI should be there . You need to make sure the Mackie is in HUI mode.
