Best way to power supply a Mbox 2 Pro
Hi everybody, time to connect my mbox 2 pro to my powermac mdd.
The mbox 2 pro is connected to the powermac with a firewire cable that transmits the data flow and also feeds the mbox 2 pro with the supply needed. My mbox 2 pro becomes with an external wall mart power supply that I think that could be better that the poor firewire power supply. So my question is very easy: What is the best way to feed the mbox 2 pro???? By the firewire cable or by the external wall mart????? As soon as I connect the firewire to the mbox 2 pro the firewire port feeds the unit with the power supply, so I have another question: If I wants to connects the mbox 2 pro to the external wall mart, need I to replace the 6 pin firewire cable with a 4 pin to not to feed the mbox 2 pro from the firewire port????? or maybe could I leave the 6 pin cable and the mbox 2 pro swap itselfs the power supply from the firewire port to the external wall mart, living togheter both kinds of power supply??. In that case which power supply is selected for the unit????? My last question is about the quality needed on the firewire cable. Is a real matter the quality of the cable???? for example is any improvement if I use a Monster firewire cable rated 40 dollars versus a belkin 10 dollars cable???? Thanks on advice and sorry for my poor english, I´m not a native english speaker. |

Re: Best way to power supply a Mbox 2 Pro
Are you planning on using condenser microphones (that require phantom power?)
This may help to make your decision for you. Good luck, Jeff
