PSA -- If Avid effects don't install (EQIII, Click II)
Public Service Announcement:
Maybe this can save someone else the several hours I lost on this today. For some unknown reason, when I first installed Pro Tools (Artist) today, the Avid Effects weren't installed. So, for example, the metronome wouldn't work at all, because Click II wasn't installed. Similarly, on the demo project, the EQIII instances wouldn't open as it was also not installed. These were not in the .aaxplugin folder in Windows 11. I googled, I binged, I YouTubed, I checked Reddit, I spent a very long time on the forum here. There were many posts and discussions about inactive plugins (how to make them active, etc.) and lost 3rd party plugins, etc. But nothing about missing standard Avid fx plugins. So, if anyone else has the same random issue and finds this, here is the solution: Uninstall PT and reinstall it. These plugins are part of the standard PT installation, and NOT part of the optional Avid Link software Installations. (So, no need to install all of those, nor to uninstall them.) Voila, the PT effects installed the second time, actually early in the process. The plugs are in the .aax folder where they belong. And all is groovy! Maybe this will help someone! |

Re: PSA -- If Avid effects don't install (EQIII, Click II)
Hi Welcome to DUC.
Thanks for promoting. This is a known problem, or at least it is known the core plugins installed by the "Avid Effects Setup.exe" installer packaged withing the main installer can fail, not known why AFAIK. If the install is not working it may be easier to rerun the actual effects installer than do a full install again. This has been discussed on DUC multiple times. You need to use google search with site:duc.avid.com qualifier to have any hope of finding anything on DUC, the built in search is especially useless. e.g. https://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=423113 http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=426440 https://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?p=2658510 https://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?p=2663428 https://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=423498 |

Thanks for the head's up. I have tried everything I know how to do with no plugins installed without errors. Time to re-install PT.

Yes, the built-in search was truly useless. |

Re: PSA -- If Avid effects don't install (EQIII, Click II)
uninstalling and re-installing PT helped me get things going. the Beats template says one or more plug-ins don't exist in your plug-in folder:
GrooveCell Impact SynthCell Xpand2 the Singer/Songwriter template says the same for one other plug-in: Mini Grand are those plug-ins supposed to be part of my subscription, or something i have to buy separately? |
