Default Cannot get 5.1 tracks or output paths in Pro Tools 6.4.1

I have already posted this on the TDM for MAc OSX forum, but perhaps it should have been here, in any case:

I am setting up an used Pro Tools system which consists of:

- Power Mac g4
- 888-24 I/O
- USD
- Pro Tools 6.4.1 software

However, I cannot get the option of creating tracks or I/O paths in formats other than mono or stereo, and we're setting up a 5.1 room. I was told that 5.1 tracks were available since Pro Tools software version 5, so what am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Bernardo

ps: what I have already tried, with zero success:

- Reinstalling Pro Tools
- Uninstalling Pro Tools with Safe Uninstall, then re-installing it
- Uninstalling Pro Tools with Clean Uninstall, then re-installing it
- Making sure the Surround Mixer plug in is in the Plug-Ins folder
- Taking the Stereo Mixer plug in OUT of the Plug-Ins folder while the Surround Mixer plug in remains there (Pro Tools won't start when I do this, with the message "Pro Tools with TDM requires the TDM Mixer Plug-In in the Plug-Ins Folder")
- Thrashing DigiSetup and Pro Tools prefences.

I was able to reach my 6 discrete channels using a single mono output for each track, but this won't do, I really do need 5.1 outputs and tracks.

Have you tried both the stereo and the surround plug in in the folder?

Yes, that's how it was set up for all but one of the attempts listed above.

Can you post a screen shot of your I/O window? Perhaps the paths are not set for 5.1.

As it turns out, the problem was that apparently our D24 system did not support 5.1 at all. We finally got 5.1 tracks today by installing an additional Mix Farm card and plugging the interface and USD to it.
