Pro Tools HDX with current (old?) PCIe or PCI-X cards
So,
I understand that the new software will run with the current cards. But what about all the software features that may or may not depend on the new HDX cards? Clip gain. Realtime fades. 32 bit float files. Multichannel files. RAM Disk thing. etc? |

None of that relies on the HDX card.

Re: Pro Tools HDX with current (old?) PCIe or PCI-X cards
the existing systems streamed 24bit audio to/from disk.
how would it deal with this 32bit file thing? |

Re: Pro Tools HDX with current (old?) PCIe or PCI-X cards
I imagine this is all just software based, not hardware.
It's funny, clip-based gain, realtime fades, 32 bit files, multi formats in all the sessions - these are things that Samplitude has been doing for over 10 years now... Welcome to 1999 Pro Tools!! |

the 16000+ sample ADC need HDX cards - that's the only thing I've seen so far.

Not true. "regular" PT does it too. It's only NOT available on TDM systems simply because the chips can't do it.

Re: Pro Tools HDX with current (old?) PCIe or PCI-X cards
Does anyone know how PT10 new plugs will work on old PCie HD cards.....
For instance.... Avid Channel.... it is an AAX plug in..... so how will it run on the old HD system? As AAX with the host proc (what is the latency of that).... RTAS? TDM any chance?? Interesting times.... I actually thought $350 for PT9 was outrageous...... not sure what to say about a Kilo-buck.... Any links to upgrade info for us Old HD people will be much appreciated......

According to Avid, PT 10 will be the last to support the blue interfaces and current PCI-e cards.

It won't run on a card, but it will run natively (on the host processor).
