Default Pro-tools are ages loading!?

When I boot pro-tools it takes like 20 minutes to boot!
Then Loading a song is the same! Very slow!

I have no clue what has happened.

I have erased:
DAE prefs folder
Pro tools preferences
com.digidesign.protools.plist
digidesign database folder
volumes folder

It obviously takes long to reboot after that. But the second load and so forth as well!?

My system is hardware:

MACPRO Quadcore
6GB Ram
PTHD 2 Accel
UAD Quad flexi (I believe it's called)

OSX 10.6.4
PT 8.1

Anybody has a clue what heck is going on??

THANKS

I may add:

It's sometimes taking very long before you see the label telling you that protools are now loading.

But right now it stalls a lot at: SETTING UP PERIPHERALS

When loading songs. It is super slow at the time it says: ACTIVATING INSERTS
+ ACTIVATING SENDS

??

Did you empty the trash? and restart?

have you taken the UAD out of the "loop"?

Reinstalled PT?

There is a lot more troubleshooting to do, read the stickie at the top of this forum.. ff

I often get a lengthy pause while "Activating Inserts." Far longer than it used to take in PT7.

Hi,

Any connected hard drives? USB especially cause slow response. disconnect any external drives and try.

Page 3 of this thread advises people to turn off Airport and disconnect Ethernet.

Several people have replied stating that this solution worked for them.

I had this happen on a recent install and had to run to old Pace prebinding script to fix it.

are you using idisk? it will take forever if you have any network drives mounted. An ipod charging, or an iphone will slow things too.
dropbox? Anything that protools will search for databases.

Go update to the latest PACE extensions. Also, taking a long time to activate inserts probably points a finger at one of your plug-ins...it's just loading plugins when activating inserts.
