Default Not Implemented

Going through the S6 manual, it looks like about 58 buttons/functions are "not implemented" when using this console with a Mac to control Pro Tools.

This seems like an awful lot of wasted space on the board ....unless there are plans to definitely make these work soon in a firmware update? I guess I don't fully understand why Avid would release a console with so many functions not yet implemented.....

Lots of reasons. Some practical, like getting into users' hands for real world feedback to help guide the process moving fwd.

Some business related, like getting some sales to help offset the costs associated with developing a huge product like this.

Were you able to get a good demo of the S6 before buying?

Also, some of your red X is not true anymore. We got some goodies with the latest update. Still have room for improvement, that's true.

I will second that about half of the buttons listed did in fact come to life with the 1.3 update. I was especially happy to find Back and Play finally working.

That said, I can understand why some of this might take a bit of time to work out; but one aspect of this that is irritating are features that are available on the MCPro that are not implemented on this console. Examples being the flip feature, swap feature or the ability to have VCAs that exceed the fader count bankable.

I'm guessing that it's an entirely new profile being written and that code cannot simply be copied over. Or else they would have I assume.

Please see the S6 v1.3 What's New Guide. The majority of the keys listed above are now working. The others are in the process of being implemented over the next few software releases. (We did 5 software releases last year and are about to do another this month.)

LOL, this however, is the perfect definition of a public beta program.

Nothing like spending $50000 to test a console

I'm amazed at how many people buy things without EXTENSIVE demos.

I would never buy something without knowing EXACTLY what it can and can't do. You have to be an educated consumer.
