Default Upgrading PT 8 on Snow Leopard to PT 10.3.6 / 11 on Mountain Lion

Hey there, so I have a lot of updating to do. I really want to get off Snow Leopard and move to Mountain Lion and the only way to do this is to upgrade Pro Tools as PT8 is not supported.

Now that Pro Tools 11 is available, I've missed the boat on getting PT 10. I don't want to upgrade to 11 until I can use the AIR Instrument Expansion Pack as it is essential to my core work flow.

So I've been reading about the ability to co install 10.3.6 and 11 on the same machine and the Avid will be giving out licences for 10.3.6 with the purchase of 11. Does this mean that I will get a copy or will I be able to do the following:

1. Upgrade to Mountain Lion
2. Purchase PT 11
3. Download PT 10.3.6
4. Uninstall PT 8
5. Install PT 10.3.6 (activate with licence from PT11 purchase)
6. Install PT 11

????

My major thing is will all my Air Instrument Expansion Pack AND all the patches and stuff still be there when I upgrade to 10.3.6? Also, will I be able to directly upgrade from PT 8.0.5 to PT 10.3.6?

Any help is greatly appreciated. THANK YOU

Hi,

Yes you get PT10.3.6 with 11 so you;ll be good to install PT 10.3.6

Upgrading from PT8 will probably require quite a few optional plugin updates, so you'll have to go through them all and get the latest versions for PT10

Sweet thanks for your help.

1 more quick question: Will Pro Tools let me know if my plug'ins don't work with PT10 (will they show up in the Inserts dropdown) or will I have to manually update them.

Thanks again!
