Default Shouldn't the Current 20% Off Apply to Renewed Subscriptions?

Seems only fair if someone has a perpetual they let lapse, and now wants to renew, they should be include in the sale. JMHO..

For renewed subscriptions, it does. Because there's no commitment. When a subscription ends, it's just a new subscription that picks up afterwards.

But you are talking about renewed perpetual support (which is a whole different thing)

Still confused. Doesn't a subscription have support too? Sorry I'm a dummy, maybe you could expand on this. Both are paying for another year of PT, right?

Tom...

There are deals.....

1. we recently merged the reinstatement upgrade fee for those that have lapsed perpetuals (could be as far back as PT 9) with the renewal upgrade so it is one price and cheaper. You now just renew at a much lower price than the reinstatement was.

So you can renew a PT perpetual that lapsed for say $199 for Studio or you can buy a new Subscription for 20% off while it lasts.

Does that help...

So if I understand correctly, I started a new subscription and let my current one lapse and I didn't have too? It would have renewed at the 20% off?

Bummer, I started the new Subscription Nov 23 (as the sale was advertised to end that weekend, which it didn't). And my old Sub ended today - Dec 13.

So I started the new sub 20 days before I had too.

Honestly, this comes up every December for the last several years. It's a little different this year due to the reinstatement of Perpetual license, but generally the December offer has been for for new, new, new.

If you want to renew at a discount and aren't eligible for Avid's offer, you can buy the annual subscription through a dealer. Specifically at Thomann and register it in your Avid account. The Ultimate sub seems slightly more expensive (US storefront). Ultimate @ $499 (rather than Avid's $479 offer) but Studio is $239 (same as Avid's offer).

Every year the company puts new subs on sale to entice new business. If they extended the sale to subscription renewals then everyone would subscribe during the sale period and they'd never pay full price. Why would Avid open themselves up to that?
