teeny tiny session cant playback

occasionally I am losing one track in a session..

there are only 12 sparse tracks so its not like a big strain on the system

I have seperate system drive with vid on another drive, audio also on its own dedicated drive...

tends to be a track I've recently recorded on..

native with 512 sample buffer - 90% processor

any hints?

Is it always the same track? If yes, the what plugins are on that track(and are all using the latest updates)? Since you are running at 512, you may as well go to 1024. Personally, I only need 2 buffer settings; Low and High

nope it tends to happen on a track I recording on... change tracks and it happens to that track too.

big buffer - good for big session right?

small buffer - small session - and tracking..... only one EQ3 plugin in the session

possible something to do with rewire? cos I'm usin that now... will be live recording soon - lets see if it crops up then


oh yeah - just crashed changing buffer size....

jus upgraded my RAM from 4gb to now 16 gb

and this is still happening! ( several times and hour - sometimes right after each other.... getting bored of the make track inactive - make track active dance!!! )


there are no plug ins on the recording channel - an just an EQ 7 after the rewire plug in on the aux input.,

I bus to the tracks to record..

tends to happen after I drag in audio - or after editing on a different track an then want to record something


disk buffer is now 4GB - the other buffer is maxed at 1024 - and I didnt use a delay compensation engine...

over all the system says it has 8gig of unused RAM..

I have an SSD system drive ( bay 1 ) - record audio to its own drive -( bay 2 ) and run video from a 3rd drive... ( yep! bay 3 )


my audio SFX library resides on a 4th drive... ( bay 4 )


any help would be greatly appreciated!!

update - seems related to playback position...

now ( maybe not before?) if I move insert point to a different spot - say earlier 5-10 secs - then the track starts working again??!

Have you tried importing the data into a new Session?

these are new sessions... happening after using more than a couple of tracks..

I tried removin all the busses - apart from necessary - cos it was made from an avid supplied template...

its happened on every PT session I ever had on this rig..

DP7 is runnin flawlessly ( i use it for a different TV series where I dont have to supply PT sessions for mixing)


this is 16 mono channels at 48 k 16 bit

memory has been upgraded.. ( now 16 gig ) was hopng that would solve it

I tried runnin with my MC mix turned off. didnt solve..

its already bare min of plug in - ( would non loaded plug in affect? )

Delete prefs and databasses? What OS? What version of PT? CPU type? Audio drive type? Did it ever work?
