Command 8 and DAWs other than PT
I own a Command 8 002R and use both PTLE7 and PTLE8, I have started dabbling into other DAWs like Harrison mixbus , Logic etc, and would love to find out if C8 could possibly and easily work as a control surface for anything other than PT. Anyone know?

Re: Command 8 and DAWs other than PT
Ive read that one should be able to use C8 with other daw's.
ive try'd with reaper.cubase5 and pt8 on my studio setup and wont work at all exept on pt 7,3 on my Celeron lap top wich i use for internet and crap. weird thing aswell that i bought it used and seen it in action on latest macpro before, and just the other day i took it to check if the unit was damaged and went to a different studio with also latest macpro and there it would not work but only on my celeron non studio computer and previous owner. I just dont know?????? |

Re: Command 8 and DAWs other than PT
I'm trying to map the Command 8 faders to Propellerheads Record. It seems to work if I connect the Command 8 via midi to my PC rather than trying to do it through the USB port of the Command 8 (where there doesn't even seem to be a Midi interface that is accessible to software other than Pro Tools.)
It seems to work well one way, that is from the faders to the DAW software. I don't see any way to automate the faders back from the DAW software to the Command 8 though. Is this the way it is supposed to work: flying faders only in Pro Tools? Also, I can control the faders, the mutes, the solo buttons, etc. but I can't control the Propellerheads Record transport from the Command 8 transport buttons. Am I missing something?

Re: Command 8 and DAWs other than PT
did you ever have luck with this?
I'm trying the same thing essentially and propellerhead told me that if i can get the command 8 to emulate a mackie (mcu) it will work... |

Re: Command 8 and DAWs other than PT
I found this useful article at Sound On Sound:
http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jul04/articles/digidesigncommand8.htm Search the page for "stand-alone". There is an entire sub-section written about it. |

Re: Command 8 and DAWs other than PT
If any one else is trying to do this tell reason your control surface is a livid ds1.
The only bad thing is when a fader is writing data it isn't very smooth, really low frame rate. However it receives days smoothly |
