It looks ominous doesn't it?! I certainly hope this isn't the case..especially since i'm hoping for a pt7 win xp update for my soundblender .. I've been emailing them like crazy for some kind of response for a months now but haven't had a single response (some kind of customer support, eh?)
Damned shame..i love their plugins but i'm fed up with the mac...

I just recieved this email today...shame..but i haven't given up hope yet..

"Hi Stefan,

Our new web site is still under development and we will be adding a legacy
download section shortly.
I am also sorry to say that under ProTools 7 and WinXP, SoundBlender will
not work and a fix will not be available for a while. We have been putting
Band-Aids on our windows products for years and we have recently decided to
spend our limited resources porting our older products to our newer system
which will then be ported to windows. I expect that this will take many
months.

Thanks,
Bob Belcher

(formerly WaveMechanics)"

I realise that they're a small company, but that is absolute crap! If my plug-ins are going to be unusable for "months" I damn well better get the upgrade for FREE when they DO get around to fixing them.

I wouldn't count an upgrade anytime in the next 6 months, if ever, according to Soundtoys.

I just spoke with support at Soundtoys today on this very issue of a lack of Windows XP support (you guys got the bundle ad too!) and they stated that since "almost all" of their registered customers use a Mac, they won't be supporting Windows XP for their TDM plugs. They seem genuinely suprised that I knew other PT HD Windows users. (Two of my friends).

I suggest that we all register our plugs with them (they ask for the platform during registration) so we can get our voices heard. We must stop this nonsense from spreading!

Amazing isn't it?! I would have thought this is very short sighted of them. Surely by now there are considerably more Windows users than there were 5 years ago? Does this mean they aren't going to support the Venue system either (doesn't this use a "skinned" XP?)? I had thought all this "Mac first" way of thinking had ended by now as Digi were encouraging both platforms to be the same.
I'm gutted...£300 badly spent. What am i supposed to do, sell my copy, or go back to the over inflated priced Mac? (No thanks..)
I had been hoping to buy some of their other great products..but they can whistle now...
Time to buy a real Eventide by the looks of things..

I am not taking any sides on this issue. I can understand why they are doing this beyond the user base. It is hard to support a platform that has so many variables. I think that can takes its toll on a small company like Sound Toys when doing all this testing. That only adds to the problem if there is a small Windows XP user base. Its like the client comes in and asks for the world on every and then low balls you on everything. This finically takes its toll in the long run and since or society is so capitalistic we can except this happening time to time.

The soundtoys stuff is the one big hole in my sessions after moving from mac to winxp PT7 . I'd gladly pay a reasonable upgrade fee.

Anybody have suggestions for a wrapped vst that can do soundblender/pitchblender type effects?

I too am bummed to learn this. Has anyone had any luck with the Eventide plug-ins on the XP platform? Seems to be of the same lineage given the history of the Sound Toys group....

The Eventide plugs are nice but fall well short of the quality of the soundtoys stuff or their own hardware imho. They are just as flexible but much more "digital" sounding. I have used Eventide hardware for many years and was disappointed with the Band Delays quality when stacked up next to my own H3000 DSE (aged but beautiful!). The Soundblender is fantastic though..which makes it all so doubly disappointing that there is no XP version now...as for the Echoboy, just read the reviews..awesome..
bah!
