Hi,

I just got an Mbox and want to find a good book to help me get going.

Thanks.

You can't go wrong with Berklee Press' "Working in the Home Studio with Pro Tools." I found it ultra helpful as I navigated the learning curve. I comes with a CD-R with some sessions. VERY helpful.

The best book is Pro Tools 6 for Mac and Windows by Steven Robach. It has visuals on how to do stuff, gives tips and is VERY complete.

This is a great book. It really helped me with the basics. At first the PT manual was like Japanese but after I read this book and did the demos I had a good foundation of PT.

i would say the berklee press book prod in the home studio with pt is the best FIRST book. main reason because if you just got into pt, its actually in english you can understand. i think that important for the first book. i also have the visual quick start guide for pt. that is good also.

My vote is with dodo on this one. I am currently working through the 2nd of 2 tutorials (The HoneyWagon Session) in this book - The Musicians Guide to Pro Tools - and I am loving it. Not only have I learned a few tricks with the pencil tool and volume envelope, but I cut out the keyboard shortcut templates from the included disc, and I am now using keyboard shortcuts (that's right, you heard right) KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS and now I am much more efficient at my 'desk'.

I only wish I could go through more tutorials of other people's sessions. Maybe we could all post the best tutorial/session books we have used. That is what is really helping me.
