can I use an ipod as external drive with the Mbox
was just wondering if I can use a 20gb ipod as an external firewire drive when using protools le and an Mbox. I see that a 7,200RPM drive is recommended and have no idea if an ipod does this.

Re: can I use an ipod as external drive with the Mbox
do a search...this has been covered many times. The answer is yes it will work, but it will burn your iPod up. Too much heat buildup after extensive reading and writing of multitrack data. Playing a MP3 file is far less of a chore than playing multiple tracks of uncompressed 24 bit data. So DON'T. Besides an iPod is not 7200 RPM, it's 4200, and an external 7200 RPM hard drive is about half the cost of an iPod. You can use the iPod as a drive to transfer a project to, then transfer it to another drive, but don't run a session from an iPod.
