I largely see it as its intended use.

I do agree with you on some points. The Res 16line would make financial sense, but I want to keep everything within the eucon ecosystem. I can sell my SPL surround monitor and a get a good return on it back and just use the monitoring section on avid control app. I also like the scalability of the mtrx studio as well. I’ve been working on quite a few Atmos projects lately, so that is worth considering. The HDX card is a couple hundred dollars cheaper than the focusrite card, but I want all my connectivity in my studio to be AoIP. Would it just make sense for me to just go with the Avid cards instead? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Great article! My studio is very simple in approach and I don’t have many outboard gear (just a midi keyboard). Inputs are not much of a concern as oppose to outputs to me. I believe 64 I/O is adequate. Any finishing and outputs beyond the scope of 5.1 will be done at other facilities and not my own studio. That is why I was leaning towards the mtrx studio. Wanted to be entirely in the eucon ecosystem but not wanting to break the bank so to speak. Now, would an HDX card make more sense or go entirely Dante with the focusrite card? I understand your requirement now. Re HDX vs Focusrite- that is probably your call to make. If you're never going to go above 64 channels then you don't need HDX. Do you ever work in DAW's other than Pro Tools? if so then the PCIER card is great for that. Remember that you *could* run both, like I do. The great thing with Dante is you can send a source to multiple destinations so I can very easily send all my inputs to both Digilink and to the PCIER card with the same channel numbering. It is very slick in that regard. HD Native might be a good option too.

Thanks for all your suggestions! It was all really helpful. At this moment, I think I’m leaning towards the PCIER card than the Avid card. The Avid card is quite expensive and it’s hard to find a reasonably used one as well. So with the PCIER card, or the Avid card, I should have my second NIC port dedicated to my eucon devices. I guess I wouldn’t need a switch. The less complicated and involved I need to be with my home network, the more hair I would have in my head Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
