Default Mtools and Protools 7.2 Incompatability

Hi all,

Having just upgraded our studios to 7.2, imagine our surprise when returning to a finished session and all our imported SFX from Mtools are missing from the session! Acording to Mtools, 7.2 has known issues with any file that is not directly imported (using the import audio fuction within Protools) into the session. So my question is this - is this true? Is there a work around? and is this issue getting fix ASAP? Going through and manually linking audio to the session EVERY time you open a session is not fun. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Thanks,

David

...no, but I'll be able confirm or deny in the next day or so as I cross that threshold.

Stay tuned.

it's what's being talked about at the mTools yahoo group.

no word on the fix yet.

work around?

record FX to 1/4" with address track and reassemble in PT. then they'll stay stuck.

ok, sorry to be flip, i have consolidated my FX creating new files of them. doubles the space needed which can be a drag if it is a big file. but i guess we have to wait for a fix to come down.

Upgrade to SoundMiner. Better product. Much better support.

The problem in 7.2 is across the board for all products. The 'fix' needs to come from Digi. It is their bug. I wouldn't upgrade to 7.2 if using SM or Mtools is critical to your workflow. Stay with 7.1cs8 and you won't get this issue.

We are aware of the problem and a fix is being worked on.

If you force copy (in PT's prefs) this will not be an issue.

Actually it IS still an issue. The files are their in your audio folder but are missing from your session! i am duplicating the SFX for just now but it's frustrating to lose the title and desciption. Even with the right SFX file in the audio folder, protools STILL can't find it! Thanks for all the feedback though. Its just annoying that after (finally) give us post guys a wicked update, something like this slips through.

if you go to the Project Browser, select all you mTools loaded FX and then hit Copy and Relink, (from the little camera thing on the left), that is reasonably fast...

1) does that work

2) is that what you have been doing?

It works properly with SoundMiner. You just have to set your Soundminer preferences right. No issues.
