Default Xpand! doesn't load

Hey guys.

I'm using ProTools 7.4 on a MacBook.
I just installed Xpand! from the original Ignition Pack 2 disc and when i launch ProTools i get the following error message (in a different window):

Fatal Error

An unknown executable could not be loaded. Please contact the software publisher for support using this software.

Now, i'm sure it's because of Xpand! because when i remove it, this message goes away. ProTools works fine regardless of this message.

Could it be related to the path Xpand is located in? Now, it's located in "/Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Xpand!". There's also this "Set Xpand! Content Location" file there, which does god knows what...

Anyone had this before?

Please help!

Thanks, Gil.

The Xpand! .dat file is located at the quoted path, however the Xpand! Plug-In file should be located /Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-Ins.

If you are relocating the Xpand! .dat file (Content) then you will need to move and double-click the 'Set Xpand! Content Location' utility to the new Xpand! dat. file location. This just tells the Xpand! Plug-In where the Content (Plug-Ins Settings - (Patches)) can be found.

Make sure your plugin is up to date for your version of OSX and PT:

About the Xpand version.

I'm using Tiger OS x (10.4.10) with ProTools 7.4 (cs8). Just download 1.0.1.9 version, which is compatible. No. It's not it.

Gil can you confirm that the Xpand! Plug-In is installed to this location:

/Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-Ins

And that the Xpand! .dat file is located here:

/Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Xpand!

Then can you try these:

Delete Pro Tools preferences.
-Go to Users > “your user name” > Library > Preferences
-Delete 'com.digidesign.protoolsLE.plist', 'DAE Prefs' (folder), 'DigiSetup.OSX' and 'Pro Tools preferences'.
-Empty trash, then restart the computer.

Repair Permissions
-Quit Pro Tools and launch Apple's "Disk Utility" application, located in:

MacHD>Applications & Utilities.

-Select your boot drive (the whole drive, not the volume underneath the drive)
-Go to the 'First Aid' tab and select "Repair Disk Permissions"

Apple recommends doing this any time you install new software, update your OS or reinstall any software.

Thanks. I'm trying all this.

Listen, I notice that i have 2 Library folders. One, under my user and another under the root.

Both contain preferences. Now, all the files you told me to delete were under my user, but Xpand preferences were under the root.

Could this mean something?
