Eleven Rack & Mixer & Recording Levels

Hello Folks,

I have connected the outs of my Eleven Rack into the interface I am using in Pro Tools (Onyx 1640i) .... However, I have a recording level problem ...whenever I have to record the volume is very low .... any idea ?

DJ...I have an original Onyx 1640 and don't really have any level issues. I simply set it up as I would for a live situation: with outs connected to two channels, I solo one of 'em, play something while bringing up the gain and watch the PFL in the meter (make sure button is pushed for PFL Solo) to get the highest output without clip - both there and on the channel's meter. Do the same for the other channel and I'm good-to-go.

That said; I believe the 1640i gets its recording level post-channel fader (and/or has the option), therefore, it may be a bit different there. I've no experience with the 'i' version.

How's it working with Logic X? Using the same method has worked well for me in Logic 9.

What do you mean by PFL ? and why pushing the Solo Button ?

I just found the answer for my question when I randomly was reading the manual ... It has to do with connecting the outputs of my rack to the Mic Pre instead of Line levels ... it is noted as a foonote in the manual ...

What's the difference if any ??
