PT feature request, mixer A/B button
A/B-ing a plugin is easy using the bypass switch, and I guess lots of people A/B their processing in the same way that I do.
However, sometimes the processing I do is complex, it may involve a couple of busses and multiple inserts, for example. To A/B two ideas involves more than one button press, muting one bus while un-muting another, for example. The idea I had is to have two snapshots for the PT mixer. A floating window could just have two large buttons, 'A' and 'B'. The two snapshots would store everything about the mixer, allowing the user to quickly switch between two mixer states in order to A/B arbitrarily complex mixes, with a single mouse click or keystroke. Does this sound like an idea that would be useful for many people? Digi, would this be an overly complex feature to add? Is there an official feature request page somewhere? Is this functionality already there and I have just missed it?

Re: PT feature request, mixer A/B button
Yes! I've been advocating the notion of session snapshots for some time. A snapshot, as I see it, would encompass plug-in states (bypass vs. nonbypass) and different automation playlists. The automation playlist would be a list containing different automation schemes for a single track - like audio playlists now exist for a single track. Rather than just two snapshots, A & B as you propose, I'd see our using several snapshots. Each one describes a new "state" for the session.
Again, I agree very much with your overall concept. Best, John Caldwell

Re: PT feature request, mixer A/B button
Well, you can't have multiple EDLs open, like in Sonic Solutions. Here's an idea, though. Just select all tracks/all audio, and copy/paste it 1 hour later on the timelime. Setup a second "B" mix on the copy, and use markers to jump between the A/B mixes.
