Are tracks in closed folders suppose to ignore their record group?
Hi!
Just stumbled about this in a session: (Pro Tools 2023.12.1, MB Pro M1, Ventura) I have a live studio recording, all tracks are in a "rec group" so that when I hit record on one track, all the other tracks are going into record mode, too. Now three of them are in a routing folder. If I close the folder and enable record on a track, all tracks go into record EXCEPT the ones in the routing folder. Those will only follow if the folder is expanded so the tracks are visible. Is this suppose to work like this? |

Sounds like a bug. I always have my folders open so I can see recording in progress.

Could maybe someone try to replicate this?

Re: Are tracks in closed folders suppose to ignore their record group?
Finally got around to trying this.
I'm seeing the same behavior whether a Routing folder or Basic folder. Will not arm the tracks if they're not shown. Even more alarming is they get taken OUT of Record if you close the folder after arming. This must be planned behavior, as the manual notes: "The following are restricted on closed Folder tracks: • Select/Split Notes (Event Operations) • Step Input (Event Operations) • Record Enable • Input Monitor • Special edit commands for plug-in automation • Real-TimeProperties • ElasticProperties" This follows the same logic as Hidden Tracks. They won't arm and shown tracks will disarm when they're hidden. I'm not sure I agree with it for folder tracks but as it is the GUI doesn't have any indication for a folder's REC status...

And If you know you are going to want to record tracks that are in folders from the start , one can alway simply save the session or template with those folders open (that is how I have my Templates saved)
