mac comparisons
hi!
just wondering if someone can point me the direction of a thread or other resource that shows how protools performs on the various mac systems currently available. particularly the different processors on the mac book pros, and imacs, and if there are any models that have hardware that isn't as good for protools. it would be good to know before purchasing! thanks tom |

Re: mac comparisons
well, if you have no desire to be portable, go for a mac pro. the power is incredible. if you need portability, go for a macbook pro, you wont be disappointed.

Re: mac comparisons
kinda depends on what ProTools rig you're getting/have because any of the current digi's require firewire whereas the mBox only need USB. Obviously, the more money you spend, the more you are going to get.

Re: mac comparisons
If money is no issue I would go for the MacPro. I'v used an IMAC from 2006 untill recently for PT. Running multiple rtas plugins at low buffer sizes I always found myself wishing for more power than the imac could deliver.
If money is an issue but you still want the power of the MacPro an Core I7 could be an alternative. http://duc.digidesign.com/showthread.php?t=238426 |
