iLok questions

Hi,

I'm just thinking about updating my gen 2 mbox mini/LE8 for an Apogee Duet 2 and PT9 combo, and have been looking at buying both on ebay. Having not had to use an ilok before I'm not totally sure how it works...For example, if i buy a used (like new) copy of PT9 for $250 which includes the ilok and license, but not registration, is that gonna work for me? I'm nervous about handing the money over when i'm not totally sure. I've also seen brand new PT9 for $369 which includes ilok,license,reg and therefore free upgrade to 10, but i'm not sure i need 10 right now. 9 suits me fine for what i want to do, which is just be able to use the Apogee instead of the mbox.

I realise this is probably an opinion based matter (9 over 10), but i just want to make sure that if i buy the version of 9, it's going to work ok for me. My Macbook Pro runs 10.6.8 so i believe that's ok...

It will be worth the extra money to get a new package that you can register in your name, regardless of if it's 9 or 10.

Thanks for the advice....what about this then; if it has registration card/code, but no ilok or ilok activation? Is that just a case of buying an ilok and setting pu an account?

As long as it's a legit purchase, then yes.
