Default Please advise

Hello guys,

I am looking forward to buy either digi 001 or the
new motu 2408 mk3. I would like to know if guys don't mind which one would best suit me. Will the result be the same on both of these sound cards.

My set up is:
PVI IBM compatible, 1GB of RAM, dual IDE, Proteus 2000 sound module, Yamaha 01v mixer.

Software: Acid pro 4.0, Sound Forge 5.0, CD Architect, and Sonar.

Will I be able to use the Sonic Foundry software with the 001 if this will be the choice.

Any kind of advice is appreciated.
Thanks very much,
Reynold

so long as Sound Forge and Acid can use ASIO drivers then you'll have no problem. I'm not sure if they can or not. That'd be a question for Sonic Foundry Support.

One bad thing about getting the 2408, you won't be able to use Protools with it. I used to use Sonar (I've been a cakewalk customer since 97 with Cakewalk Pro Audio) and I gotta tell ya...ProTools is a dream compared to Sonar for audio recording and editing. I still like using Sonar or Reason for Midi Editing. But recording audio and editing the tracks is so much easier in ProTools than in just about any other program I've used.

The one bad thing about getting the 001, you'll only have 8 digital Ins and Outs (one lightpipe connection) whereas with the 2408 you'd have 24 digital I/O to connect to your 01V.

So...it's your call.

Thanks very much. I guess I'll go with the 001. For the digital outs, I'll use for now whatever I get from the 001. Once again thanks.
