Default Auto Panning possible?

I have a vocal track that i need to pan left to right slowly throughout the song. the only way i see to do this is with the pencil but this is time consuming. I was hoping there might be a way to do this automated or faster. Any ideas?

pencil works great, especially if you're on a grid...
or if you upgrade to 8 it comes with tl's auto-pan;
or for cheap you could go online and get one, or the voce spin is practically given away.
or demo waves mondo mod or sound toys sound blender, or...
just write pan automation old school, by hand, ala hendrix.

I could do any song, regardless of length, in about 2 seconds.

Select pan in the automation

make one point at the beginning (may already be made) and another at the end

Drag the first one all the way left and the second all the way right.

Done

click and hold the pencil tool icon and select the triangle shape
set your track to pan view
draw a line over your track
further from center you are, the more dramatic the effect.
